According to Precedence Research, the global pain management therapeutics market should reach over $108.57 billion by 2032. The global non-opioid pain treatment market size is predicted to hit approximately $79.7 billion by 2032 while the global pruritus therapeutics market is expected to generate $15.84 billion by 2032. Additionally, the global inhalation anesthesia market is expected to clock in at roughly $3.21 billion by 2032.
The following are among the advancements in pain treatment:
Neuromodulation Techniques: New spinal cord stimulation technologies offer treatment for persistent spine pain syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and painful diabetic neuropathy. Also, innovations in waveforms, neural targets, and closed-loop feedback systems are improving efficacy and patient outcomes.
Virtual Reality Therapy: VR therapy has shown promising results in reducing pain perception, especially for chronic pain conditions. It can be used during painful medical procedures to reduce opioid usage.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: AI and machine learning are being used to gauge subjective pain levels and changes in pain based on physiological data. AI is helping to individualize and optimize longitudinal care through patient portals and electronic health records.
Wearable Devices and Remote Monitoring: Wearable devices and biosensors allow for continuous tracking of vital signs, activity levels, and pain fluctuations. Remote patient monitoring systems are providing real-time data to healthcare providers, allowing for more responsive care.
Peripheral Nerve Stimulation: Peripheral nerve stimulation can target pain in various body areas, including knees, shoulders, hips, and back. The treatment involves implanting a small electrical micro-lead near the pain area, which can be adjusted by the patient and removed after 60 days.
Regenerative Medicine: Techniques using stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, and gene therapy are being explored to promote tissue repair and alleviate pain.
